A 76-year-old female presented to the clinic with complaints of several episodes of syncope over the past 15 days. She had a history of hypertension and was on low doses of beta blockers. ECG showed atrial fibrillation with controlled ventricular rate. The patient was investigated with long term ECG monitoring using VIGO SmartHeart solution.

The ECG analysis showed atrial flutter followed by sinus pause (up to 10 secs). The patient underwent pacemaker implantation for sick sinus syndrome, leading to long conversion pauses.

Timely diagnosis and intervention could save a life.
